Happy solstice, everyone! I am really looking forward to our next monthly Q and A call with Steven on June 24th because we will be celebrating this special time of year with a specific topic, the planet Uranus in a square to the Moon’s nodes by transit. The Zoom call is open to all, so please invite your friends to join us. Thinking about this square, I took a quick look at the FCEA birthchart. I’ve mentioned in a previous Dean’s Update that the god of thunderbolts and lightning, sudden change and radical awakening, was crossing our school’s  01°05’Gemini Ascendant. Now I find myself pondering the transiting north node in Pisces in the FCEA’s 10th house and the opposite south node in Virgo in the 4th.
Certainly, we are aspiring to be a “mystical” school in Pisces fashion. But transiting Uranus in a square seems to be asking us to wake up to something more. Do we need to let go of some of the obsessions we have with our day-to-day studies when we may be too critical of ourselves and friends within our FCEA home and family? Do we seek perfection too much while always trying to be better? Instead, perhaps now is the time to boost our school’s reputation and standing within the larger astrological community.
In May, it was great to connect with a number of our students and alumni at NORWAC, The Northwest Astrological Conference. Let’s expand our collective presence at similar events. For example, I hope to see many of you at the upcoming United Astrology Conference (UAC 2026) in Chicago in September. It is time for us to strive toward our 10th house mission and to make a public name for ourselves. We can do this! Let’s make a date to celebrate the school together while at this major gathering. We will have an FCEA table at UAC and we will plan a school reception so we can all meet and mingle and celebrate our school and community.
But what about the sudden revelations of Uranus in Gemini in a square to the current lunar south node in Virgo slowly cruising through our inner-most place of reflection and home, our 4th house? Of course, critical scrutiny of our skill sets and inner workings of our curriculum help us to fine-tune our program, strengthening our abilities to be the best evolutionary astrologers out there! But do we only focus upon the hard work of perfection, the details of every method, or the harsh self-criticism of raising the bar on ourselves rather than letting go in Pisces fashion, letting our intuitions grow and our playful spirit shine?
For our 300-level advanced students and graduates, I want to mention a way to use your Piscean imagination to visualize new directions in your mission, while staying open to fresh avenues of learning (Uranus in Gemini) that build off of your previous Virgo skills developed as a student at the craftsperson level. We are slowly expanding our 400-level classes addressing special topics. For example, in winter, we offered FCEA 402: Chart Rectification and we hope to offer this class again soon. We are developing a list of students interested in the second run of FCEA 405: The Asteroids this summer (the first 405 was offered in 2025). And we are also excited about FCEA 403: Electional Astrology opening mid-October and running through November 4th. Students who complete three 400-level electives will earn an Honors Designation on their FCEA Master Astrologer degree, and students completing six 400-level electives will earn a Distinguished Honors Designation. These designations will also be displayed on our FCEA Graduates webpage. Why not consider expanding your expertise?
In the meantime, I look forward to seeing you all at our solstice celebration held during our monthly Q and A Zoom call with Steven. May Uranus in Gemini stimulate our minds and hearts with exciting new ideas and new directions!
